Sennen formed in Norwich in 2002 and can be described as a somewhat cult band. The band's schizophrenic style has raised them to cult status across the world and has allowed them to appear in TV dramas such as One Tree Hill and True Blood. Their first record, Widows, shot them to fame and was placed in Drowned in Sound’s top 50 records of 2005. Three records later and they are still going strong so are definitely worth checking out.
Steve Osborne - sometimes the brains behind a great album can be more important than the band themselves. Nowhere is this more true than with Steve Osborne, the mastermind between some of U2’s, Placebo’s and New Order’s best albums. The albums he’s produced have gone on to sell millions, many have even gone platinum. His producing talents have not gone unnoticed by critics and bands; he always has bands queuing up for the chance to work with him. Who knows, if you keep working on those scales, you might get the chance to record with him one day. Charlie Simpson's first album, Young Pilgrim, is another such record that Osborne has produced.
Myleene Klass is probably better known nowadays for being a celebrity mum, the face of Mark’s and Spencer’s and a contestant on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here than a musician. Nevertheless, she comes from a long line of musicians (6 generations in fact) and is herself a classically trained pianist and violinist. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in London, she went on to sing in now-disbanded pop group ‘Heresay’. Ever since she’s been a well-known celebrity figure and now she splits her time between modelling, TV presenting and charity work. Few musicians can claim to have had such a diverse career.
Cathy Dennis can be considered the dark horse of the musical work. Preferring to operate behind the scenes, she’s written as a surprisingly huge number of hits for world-famous artists such as S Club 7, Kylie Minogue, Britney Spears and Katy Perry. Classics such as ‘I Can’t Get You Out of My Head’ and ‘I Kissed a Girl’ can be attributed to Dennis’s songwriting talents. Due to her ability to write a certified banger, Dennis has wracked up no less than 12 songwriting awards in the last ten year. Look out for her own releases as well: during the 1990s Dennis herself graced the stage, releasing 4 studio albums.
