I started playing the guitar as a youngster trying to copy my favourite guitarists, Slash and Jimi Hendrix. In my later teen years, I became a long-haired metalhead and went to study at the Institute of Contemporary Music in London, where I achieved merit in the Diploma in Popular Music Performance course. This experience enabled me to expand my repertoire extensively and also taught me a lot about being a good teacher.
After completing the course in London, I returned to Norwich with a new sense of the joys of different varieties of music and set up my own guitar teaching business. Since then I have taught people aged 4 to 65, from beginner to advanced level and everything from Megadeth to Little Mix.
I have a CTLLS teaching qualification which I completed at Access To Music in Norwich, where I was able to study a course specifically for music teachers. I enjoy playing and teaching a wide range of music including pop, rock, country, blues and metal. I am based in Norwich where I teach the majority of my lessons.
“I couldn't have asked for a friendlier or better teacher than Paul. He's made learning the guitar enjoyable as well as rewarding and now I'm well on the way to achieving my aim of mastering The Smith's back-catalogue. Johnny Marr, here we come.”– Adam
Apart from my private lessons, I also teach weekly guitar lessons at a junior school in Norwich. In the school holidays, I teach at a Rock Camp for older children, which is a week-long course where the students are put into bands and work towards performing in a gig at the end of the course.
As well as all the above, I run a growing Youtube channel of guitar lessons with over 1,000 subscribers.
Whatever type of music you're interested in playing and whatever your age or level I can accommodate you, simply get in touch by emailing me on info@guitarlessonsnorwich.com. You can find out a little bit more about myself as a guitar teacher by watching the YouTube video below:
